Proration is a permission that can be given to an admin user. It allows them to sell a permit to a user that is valid for a shorter portion of the active sales window and have the system adjust the cost of the permit accordingly. A good example is a student parker starting to park a vehicle halfway through a year or semester. Note - There is a video after the instructions that illustrate the instructions. |
Configuration/Setup
Hover over the System Config menu and click Manage Roles. For more information on Editing Permissions refer to this wiki article.
In this case we will apply the permission to the role of Parking Manager Admin.
- Click on Permissions to the right of Parking Manager Admin.
- The Editing Permissions window will open.
- Go into the Parking Tab. (third tab)
- Click on the permission labeled Prorate Permit Purchases.
- Click on Save Permissions to apply the permission for this admin user.
Once the permission is applied any admin with this role can sell permits with proration appliedIn Lot Admin and Pricing go into the lot you wish to setup for Proration.
On the Standard permit tab select This lot can be prorated.
This lot is now set for proration.
Using Proration for Permits

Click on the Parking tab to begin the process of buying a permit.
The Parking Permit Registration screen displays. Click on Standard Parking Permit for the lot you wish the user to park in.
Note the full price for this prmit is $100$130.00.
The Confirm Parking Permit Registration page will display.
- First choose the permit number you wish to associate with the user.
- Secondly select the start date for the permit to be valid
- Once the the permit number and start date are selected you will notice the cost is adjusted accordingly and the label *prorated is applied. In this case the cost is reduced to $54$69.8433 from $100.00
Click on Purchase this Permit to continue.

Notice the Total Owing is now prorated and adjusted to $154.92 from $282.50. Click Purchase this Permit to complete the purchase.

The resulting cost of the permit will show in the user's profile both on the Admin Portal as well as the User's Portal.
